Lumora

Our Story

A studio built around a gap we kept seeing.

Priya had been teaching yoga in Mumbai for over a decade when she noticed the same thing in class after class: people whose bodies were exhausted from overcompensating for everything they weren't allowing themselves to feel. Around the same time, Dr. Tara Nair was seeing the reverse in her practice — people who could name exactly what was wrong but had no physical outlet for carrying it. They started talking. Lumora was the result: a small studio where the body and the mind are treated as the same project, not two separate appointments on two separate days.

Meet the Founders

Priya Mehta, Iyengar yoga teacher and co-founder of Lumora Wellness

Priya Mehta

Iyengar yoga teacher, twelve years

Priya Mehta has been teaching yoga for twelve years, twelve of them in the Iyengar method. She trained in Pune before opening Lumora's doors in 2022, and still teaches every Restorative and Iyengar Fundamentals class herself. She believes the most useful thing a teacher can do is notice — a held breath, a locked knee, a body bracing for instructions that haven't come yet — before saying a word.

Dr. Tara Nair

Clinical psychologist

Dr. Tara Nair is a clinical psychologist with over a decade of practice, much of it spent watching how rarely people are given permission to simply stop. She holds sessions the way she'd want one held for herself: unhurried, without an agenda to fix anything by the end of the hour. She believes presence is a skill, not a personality trait — and that it can be taught.

The Space

1,200 square feet, on purpose.

Ground floor, natural light, sage-green walls the color of new leaves. We kept it small enough that you'd never feel like a number, and quiet enough that you'd actually notice the difference.

Small by design.

We keep classes to eight so every student is seen.

The body and the mind, together.

We don't separate a yoga mat from a therapist's chair — most people need both at once.

Pace over performance.

Nothing here is timed, ranked, or gamified. You're not behind.
